How Phonics Teaches Your Child to Read and Spell

Join our superhero gang!

Your child joins our superhero, Zak, on a mission to rescue his friends from Dr. Lazy Bones. To save each hero, they’ll play lively and varied synthetic phonics games; catching flying spaceships, feeding hungry tigers, dressing pooches and more!

3 years of learning – anywhere

26 levels systematically teach your child to read and spell. With unlimited play, your child can play at home or school on a computer, iPad or Android tablet.

Monitor progress

In-depth reporting will track your child’s achievements and enable you to give the extra support that makes all the difference.

Some of Reading and Spelling Phonics Games

Step 1 – Knowing the sounds

Your child learns a group of sounds and matches the sound with a letter.

Step 4 – Reading camera/tricky words

Tricky words, such as ‘the’ and ‘was’ are harder to read, but are essential because they occur so often in children’s books and writing.

Step 2 – Reading words with these sounds

Your child learns to blend (or glue) these sounds together to read words.

Step 5 – Spell camera/tricky words

Next, your child learns to spell these tricky words so they can move onto writing sentences.

Step 3 – Spelling words with these sounds

Next your child is taught to listen for the sounds in a word and to identify the letter associated with it – spelling!

Step 6 – Sentence reading

We put all these skills together to read sentences and stories; growing your child’s confidence for a love of reading!

So many phonics games are practising children’s ability to play computer games, rather than their reading and spelling skills. We pride ourselves on games which don’t require advanced hand-eye coordination but get children reading and spelling with just the right level of interactivity. Watch some examples:
